He is an assistant professor at the Department of Bacterial Genetics at the Institute of Microbiology at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw. In his research he deals with the analysis of the structure and function of mobile genetic elements and the study of their role in the adaptation of bacteria to extreme environments, including permanently cold polar regions
