International Artist Visits Knoxville

In collaboration with the University of Tennessee Knoxville, School of Art, the
Marek Maria Pienkowski Foundation will welcome international artist, Tomasz
Kalitko, from the University of the Arts in Poznań, Poland on January 28, 2011.

Kalitko’s works seem to primarily focus on people and their use of body
languages, presenting characteristics with a courageous use of color. No matter
what the background of the painting, the expressions Kalitko portrays are
seemingly universal.

The MMP Foundation will present an exhibition of Mr. Kalitko’s artwork from 6-8
p.m. at the Pienkow Art Gallery at West Knox Plaza, 7417 Kingston Pike,
Knoxville, TN 37919.

Tomasz Kalitko graduated with honors from the Painting Department at the
Academy of Fine Arts in Poznari, Poland in 2006 (now the University of the Arts
in Poznan). Since then he has served as assistant at the atelier of Professor
Tomasz Psuja at the University of the Arts in Poznari.

The University of Tennessee Knoxville has a linkage agreement with the
University of the Arts in Poznari, Poland. Through this relationship, the two
schools have implemented an exchange program for their art students for the
past eight years.

Since 2003, the University of the Arts in Poznan has hosted two UTK art students
for the month of Mayas guest artists at their school and each fall the UTK School
of Art hosts two students from the University of the Arts in Poznari. While
visiting, these students work in the print shop at UTK as guest artists, producing
and exhibiting their work.
